Glynis Pinckney Obituary

Glynis Fatina Shider Pinckney, the daughter of Gloria Shider Adams Bowman and Russell Lee Adams, was born in Colleton County on September 11, 1967.  Glynis entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.  Home-Going Celebration will be held Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 329 Savage Street, Walterboro, South Carolina.  Reverend Wayne G. Carter, Host Pastor, Pastor Ron O. Youmans, Eulogist.  Interment, Old Miss Cemetery, Smoaks, South Carolina.  A public viewing will be held Wednesday, Augist 28, 2019 at the Stephens-Maree-Tracy Chapel of Serenity, 305 Ackerman Street, Walterboro, South Carolina from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  

Glynis, known as "Tina" attended the public schools of Colleton County and graduated from Ruffin High School in 1984. She later matriculated to Orangeburg, South Carolina where she attended Claflin University pursuing a degree in Biology. She was employed as a Tutor at Ruffin Middle School for several years.

Tina joined Springtown United Methodist Church at an early age and served in various capacities. She was also affiliated with the New Beginnings Church of Christ in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Tina married the love of her life, Shawn Edward Pinckney,Sr. in 1988, and to this union three children were born; Victoria, Sieta and Shawn, Jr.  She was a housewife, mother and caregiver to her family and community. She loved children especially her nieces and nephews, and sitting and talking with the elderly. She loved to read, cook and sit on the porch with her mom. She was very fashionable and often complemented her outfits with a hat and of course, her sunglasses. Tina always met you with a smile and told you she loved you.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Shawn E. Pinckney, Sr. of the home; her children, Victoria S. Pinckney of Vance, SC; Sieta S. Pinckney and Shawn, Pinckney, Jr. of the home; her mother, Gloria Bowman of Smoaks, SC, her father, Russell Lee (Mary) Adams of Walterboro, SC; her sister, Tanya P. Adams (Tyrone) Owens. and Marian Michelle Shider of Smoaks, SC; her brothers, Vernon (Courtney) Bowman, Summerville, SC; Levi (Charleen) Adams, Walterboro, SC; Sisters-in law, Caroline (Reverend Gregory) Clayton, Cottageville, SC and April Adams of Walterboro, SC; her nieces and nephews whom she adored and helped raise, Kendrell and Jamya Singleton, Smoaks, SC, Corey, Rhianna, and Ayden Bowman, Summerville, SC, and Jaire Griffin;  Aunts,  Mae Helen (Tony) Gatewood, Smoaks, SC; Anna R., Adalee, Deborah, Rena, Ceronia, and Eva Mae Adams, all of New York; Uncles; Marion Shider, Walterboro, SC, Lorenzo Shider, Smoaks, SC; Chris, Amer, Scott and Darrell Adams, New York, SC; great aunt, Ernetha Folk, Smoaks, SC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends  and her beloved Mimi.
