James "Chook" Preston

James Preston son of the late JL (Frances) Preston, Sr., was born on March 18, 1943.  He departed this life on September 29, 2019, at his residence.  Home-Going Celebration will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 707 Arista Road, Bowman, South Carolina.  Revered Arthur W. Goforth,III, Pastor, and Reverend Curtis Johnson Eulogist.

Chook as he was called, was educated through Jenkins Rosewood school system.  He was employed with Philip Kirven and John Felder, as a mechanic.  He was united in marriage to the late Albennia Preston to this union one child was born.

Chook leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter Betty Elliott (Shawn) Backmon of Bowman, SC; two sons Anthony (Lillie Pearl) Bookard of Bowman, SC and  Edward A. Taylor of Atlanta, GA; three step-daughters Stephanie Fanning, Orangeburg, SC, Heather Perez, Jacksonville, FL, and Brandy (John) Glover, Bowman, SC; one step-son Wiley Jeffcoat, Rock Hill, SC;  two sisters Catherine Guinyard and Ruthie Preston, Bowman, SC; two brothers Marvin (Fannie) Preston, Orangeburg, SC and Melvin (Teresa) Preston, Philadelphia, PA; two sisters-in-law Rosa A. Green and Georgia A. Elliott both of Bowman, SC; six grandsons, 14 great-grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, and 4 step-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
