Mr. Peter Durant Thompson entered into this life on April 19, 1934 in Walterboro, South Carolina. He peaceably transitioned into the presence of God on April 13, 2019 at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, South Carolina. Peter was the son of the late Norman and Minnie Bell Thompson. Home-Going Celebration will be held Thursday, April 18, 2019 at True Faith Ministries, 360 Lambert Road, Walterboro, South Carolina at 2:00 p.m., Apostle Troy A. Allen, Sr. Pastor, and Reverend Evon Robinson, Eulogist. Interment, Live Oak Cemetery. A public viewing will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2019 at the S-M-T Chapel of Serenity from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Peter attended the former “Oak Grove Elementary School” of Walterboro, South Carolina and the Colleton Training School. He was a professional laborer of many sorts, and was skilled in a variety of jobs, but was most famously known for his painting. Peter painted many houses and buildings around Walterboro. He was a quiet person, who kept to himself. As a young child, Peter attended the old “Piney Grove Baptist Church” of Walterboro, South Carolina.
Of the twelve siblings of this union, ten preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories one brother, Mr. Johnnie Thompson (Thelma) of the home, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and friends.
