Aaron Harrison, Sr. Obituary

Aaron Harrison Sr. was born on April 20, 1951 to the late Reverend O’Donnell and Ethel Hiers-Harrison in Smoaks, South Carolina. At an early age, he attended Lovely Hill Baptist Church in Smoaks, South Carolina. He departed this life on May 23, 2024 at Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

He received his education from Ruffin High School in Ruffin, South Carolina, where he played on the football team and served as a school bus driver for the Colleton County School District.

After graduation in 1971, he moved to Brooklyn, New York where he worked as a security officer. In 1974, Aaron worked as a Sterile Processing Technician at Long Island College Hospital (LICH). While on the job for 38 years, he was affectionately known as “Harry.” At work, he also met the love of his life, Vilette 49 years ago. They were married for 42 years.

Aaron was a “king of all trades and master of all.”  He could build and repair anything. He loved telling stories, making others laugh, and always had a giving spirit. After he retired from LICH, he joined Mt. Ollie Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York where he was a Handyman and a member of the Trustee & Usher Board.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Harrison; four sisters Pernell Risher, Naomi Stamps, Lucretia Rogers, and Brenda Harrison-Hilliard.

Left to cherish his life and legacy is his wife Vilette Harrison; four children, Tarra Lowery of Florence, South Carolina, Aaron Jr. Harrison of Powder Springs, Georgia, Anthony Harrison of Brooklyn, New York, Shavonna Harrison of Powder Springs, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Shaniqua, Diamond, Amari, Trezahn, Chyane, Alayssia, and Nuri “NuNu”' the apple of Papa’s eyes; four great grandchildren, Shaliyah, Aquilles, Sharaya, and Ahkir; one sister, Robin Mack of Carmichael, California; five brothers-in-law, John Hilliard of Awendaw, South Carolina, Cyril (Anette) Washington of Columbus, Georgia,  Angus Jr. (Donnie) Whitlock of Bronx, New York, Frasier (Carrie) Collier of Ridgeville, South Carolina, Eric Collier (Barbara) of Louisville, Kentucky; five sisters-in-law, Michelle (Ted) Collier of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Laverne James of Columbus, Georgia, Yolanda (Kevin) Monroe of Bayshore, New York, Diane (Hebert Sr.) Williams of Brooklyn, New York, Kim Collier of Summerville, South Carolina; beloved cousin, Rebecca Harrison of Brooklyn, New York; favorite nephew, Kenneth Rodgers of Pennsylvania; longtime best friend, Washington “James” Moore of Brooklyn, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
