Adam McCree Lewis was Born November 18, 1962 in Walterboro, SC (Colleton County)
to the late Ms. Ethel Lewis and Mr. McCree Garvin.
A Time to Go to His Heavenly Home
Adam McCree Lewis transitioned peacefully into the arms of his
heavenly father on the evening of December 24, 2024, while serving in the country of
Croatia at the age of sixty-two.
A Time To Learn
He achieved a remarkable milestone by graduating from Walterboro Senior High School on August 1, 1978, at the impressive age of sixteen. Following this accomplishment, he went on to attend Johnson C. Smith University, where he expanded his academic
horizons. During his university years, he pledged Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity,
aim invaluable leadership skills and the importance of service
to his community.
A Time To Worship
A lifelong devotee, he remained a dedicated member of Mt. Zion A.M.E
Church since his childhood, despite residing in various parts of the world.
A Time To Work
On February 28, 2003, he retired as a Petty Officer First Class from the United States Navy, culminating twenty-three years of dedicated and diligent service. After retiring, he continued to serve as
an employee of Military Sealift Command in Virginia Beach, until his untimely passing.
A Time For Relaxing
In his time of leisure, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was an avid music enthusiast with a particular fondness of smooth jazz and soul melodies. As an exceptional cook, he took great pride in experimenting with new and exciting |
culinary dishes for his loved ones.
A Time to be Remembered
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, of thirty-two years, Avie Lewis of Jacksonville, FL, son Adam (Alexia) Lewis Il of Jacksonville, FL; daughters Amanda Lewis of Charlotte, NC and Mary Moore of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Kyla Blake of Jacksonville, FL, Xavion Lewis of Jacksonville, FL, Kyndal Singleton of Jacksonville, FL, and Leilani Lewis
of Jacksonville, FL; his sisters, Queen Lewis of Round O, SC, Alexia Garvin of St. George, SC,
Cathleen Bell of Columbia, SC, and Gloria Garvin of Summerville, SC; his brothers,
Mallie (Priscilla) Lewis of Philadelphia, PA, Rochester (Carla) Lewis of Charleston, SC,
Samuel Garvin of St. George, SC; his brothers-in-law, David Moore of Bartow, FL, Walter (Gailon) Moore of Bartow, FL, Tyrone Moore of Lakeland, FL, Audley (Kathy) Moore of Fortmead, FL,
