Alfred Chisolm, A devoted husband, loving father, cherished father and great-grandfather, and faithful servant of God was born on October 16, 1949 to the late William Chisolm, Sr. and Aretha Aiken. Alfred departed this life on January 9, 2026, surrounded by his family. He is now at peace in the presence of God.
He attended Colleton High School and graduated in the class of 1968. He later earned numerous automotive certifications from Beaufort Technical College, now known as the Technical College of the Lowcountry. He also attended the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, SC and was certified as a Class Two law enforcement officer.
Alfred dedicated his life to service through both his work and his care for others. He held a variety of roles in his community, including serving as head of security at Sun City in Bluffton, SC, working in law enforcement at the Colleton County Jailhouse, and serving as a dedicated technician for Ferrell Gas in Walterboro, SC.
A faithful member of First Freedom Baptist Church, Alfred served diligently as a deacon until his health limited his ability to do so. He was deeply compassionate and known for “seeing about” people— visiting the sick, chauffeuring family and friends to appointments and events, and ensuring that others were cared for.
Alfred was a hand-on practical man who could fix nearly anything. A true “ticker-er,” he continued repairing and problem-solving for years despite the physical limitations of his illness. He was also known for his sense of humor, which remained intact until he was no longer able to speak or otherwise communicate, bringing joy to those around him.
On January 28, 1972, Alfred married Eleanor “Anne” Chisolm (Jackson). Together they shared nearly 54 years of love, friendship, and laughter. Eleanor was his devoted caretaker until the very end. To this loving union 3 children were born. Alfred was a loving patriarch and proud father to his children. He found his greatest joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Chisolm, Sr. and Aretha Aiken; siblings, Ethel (James) Stephens, William (Elma) Chisolm Jr., Annie Ruth (David) Fryar, and Virgie Chisolm; and a brother in law, Irvin Jackson, Jr.
Alfred leaves his most cherished memories to his loving and devoted wife, Eleanor “Anne” Chisolm; Children, Renita (Michael) English of Riverview, FL, Darren (Lisa) Chisolm of Richmond, GA, and Allison (Jarrunis) Chisolm of Rock Hill, SC; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a most devoted friend, Robert Terry, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
