Annette Levia Poole, a dedicated educator, and lifelong resident of New Haven Connecticut was born on July 9, 1977. She transitioned from this life unexpectedly on October 7, 2024, in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
She graduated from Wilbur L. Cross High School in 1995 and continued her educational journey at Virginia State University. She began her career at the Boys and Girls Club of New Haven, Connecticut under the direct tutelage of her Godmother, Candance Fowler. She later continued her career at A.C.E.S. in North Haven , Connecticut. She was particularly gifted at early intervention for children with special needs and learning disabilities. Annette would spend hours outside of the confines of her employment helping children, particularly those with special needs. Annette adored children and had a natural ability to communicate with them and their caregivers in a way that helped her quickly gain their trust and admiration. In addition to her affinity for serving our youth, Annette was extremely passionate about her Mickey Mouse collection and curated an extensive music library.
Annette was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Oscar and Geraldine Armstrong Poole; maternal grandfather, Ezekiel Syphrett, Sr.; Godfather, Robert E. Forbes; and Godmother, Candance Fowler.
Annette is survived by her loving mother, Cathey Syphrett Poole; father, Stanley L. Poole; maternal grandmother, Iris Belton Syphrett; devoted siblings, Yusef Poole (Tunisia) and Seth L. Poole (Dava) along with her “four-legged son, Mission.” She expressed great pride in serving as Godmother to Antoinette and Kye, and found boundless happiness in spoiling her nieces, Skylar and Lydia, and her nephew, Zachary. Along with her immediate family, she leaves a host of adoring maternal and paternal aunts, uncles, cousins, and very dear friends.
