Beatrice Major, 99, widow of Sam Major, Sr., entered into eternal rest Friday June 18, 2021 at Complete Care Nursing Facility in Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Clarendon County July 10, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Elizabeth Wright.
She was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and became a member of Rockhill Baptist Church. She was a dedicated and lifetime member of Rockhill Baptist Church, as well as, a devoted supporter to her spiritual leader until she became unable to attend church.
Beatrice worked as a domestic worker for many families, serving them for over fifty plus years. She was a jubilant passionate individual who never met a stranger. Her longevity was contributed to her ability to laugh and encourage others. Beatrice was a person that loved and cherished each and every moment of her life and was also an exquisite dresser. She loved gospel music, especially the song by Luther Barnes, “Coming up on the Rough Side of the Mountain”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine sisters, two brothers and three grandchildren.
Her memory will be cherished by her four children: Dorothy Mack, Jenet Stewart and Sam Major, Jr. all of Baltimore, Maryland and Elizabeth Sweat of Sumter; sixteen grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
