Betty Ann Richardson, 59, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Prisma Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia. Born in Sumter County, February 20, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Gussie Harrison and Marynell Harrison.
She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1980. Betty also married the love of her life, Ber- Nay Richardson in 1980.
Betty was a family oriented individual with a kind kindred spirit; noble in mind and soul with a very generous heart in giving her help and time to others. She was a person totally devoted to a purpose or cause. She never met a stranger. She was an excellent cook and helped many in the community by cooking or cleaning for them. Her love for others took her to Tuomey Hospital, where she worked for fifteen years in food administration until she retired.
She was devoted mother to her children and grandchildren. Betty loved gospel music. Her favorite musical artist was Luther Barnes. She would listen to his songs and knew many of them. Her favorite song you would hear her singing or humming daily was” The Other Shore” .
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leon Harrison.
She leaves a wealth of cherished memories and will be fondly missed by her husband, Ber-Nay Richardson; two daughters, Chaunta (Jonathan) McGee and Adrienne Richardson both of Sumter; a son, Ber-Nay (Derricka) Richardson of Sumter; two brothers, Leroy Harrison and Andrew (Debra) Service of Sumter; seven grandchildren; a special niece, Darnetta Richardson; a dear friend, Wilhelmina Dyson and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
