A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, Brenda Lee Owens was born in Walterboro, South Carolina on September 26, 1962, to Gilbert Owens, Jr., and Lillie Martin-Owens. She was the only girl of seven children. She left this world unexpectedly on July 9, 2023.
Brenda was a 1982 graduate of Walterboro High School, “Home of the Mighty Bulldogs.” She was a cheerleader for the “Mighty 26” in which her brother James was apart of. After high school, she continued her education at the Technical College of the Lowcountry. Brenda worked many years on Hilton Head Island, where she was supervisor of housekeeping until her health failed.
Brenda was a lively and outgoing person. She was known by her friends and family to be smart, ambitious, and ready for anything. She had the most beautiful smile that could light up your soul. She loved being outside and going fishing. Brenda enjoyed sitting around with her friends and family laughing and telling stories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. We, her family, will always remember her infectious smile and caring personality. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Gilbert, and Lillie Martin-Owens; four brothers, Gilbert, III., James, Johnny, and Rodney Owens.
