Cathy Deborah Fields Alston was born on October 30,1957 in Walterboro, SC to Redell and the late Jesse Fields. She entered into eternal rest on February 26, 2022, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Extremely smart, she graduated a year early from Colleton High School and later from Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College with a degree in Radiology in 1979.
Her career began in Walterboro, SC at Colleton Regional Hospital and Colleton Medical Center in the Radiology Department as an X-Ray Technician. Cathy was also an entrepreneur and created C&J Gospel Music, LLC in 1996 which was located in Walterboro and Summerville, SC. She served as the Minister of Music at Bethel Methodist Church, Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, New Covenant Fellowship Ministries, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and The Colleton County Mass Choir.
Cathy loved traveling, shopping, fashions, and being surrounded by family and friends, especially her grandchildren. One of her favorite things to do was cruise to different countries. She was a faithful leader of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Praise Team and all of the choirs of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Additionally, Cathy was a devoted piano instructor for many years.
Cathy was preceded in death by her Father, Jesse J. Fields; Brother, Jesse Lanair Fields; and Sister, Hattie L. Jones.
Loved ones who have cherished memories: Her devoted husband of twenty-three years, Anthony Alston of Walterboro, SC; Mother, Redell S. Fields of Walterboro, SC; Daughter, Rakenya (Richmond) Murray of Blufton, SC; Son, Tremayne Siders of Walterboro; Grandsons, McKenzie Siders and Xavier Murray of Blufton, SC; Brothers, Arthur (Rosa) Cummings of Beaufort, SC and Curtis Fields of Chicago, Illinois; Sister, Jessica (Tony) Williams of Walterboro, SC; Brother-in-law, Leroy Alston, Jr. of Summerville, SC; Sisters- in- law, Angela (Troy) Alston Greene of Summerville, SC and Celestine (Gary) Jones of Warrenton, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves to cherish her legacy the numerous piano students and choir members that she shared her remarkable talents with during her life.
