Charles Edward Windom, affectionately known as “Bubba” or “Chuck,” age 61, of Covington, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025. Born on December 29, 1963, in Tallahassee, Florida, Charles was the beloved son of the late Cleveland Windom and Lottie Smith Windom.
Charles graduated from Walterboro High School in 1981 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His military service took him around the world, and he carried with him a deep sense of honor, dedication, and patriotism.
Following his military career, Charles pursued higher education with the same commitment he gave to service. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Database Management (Oracle) in 1999 and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from American University in 2003. His professional life spanned over two decades, during which he worked as a skilled computer programmer, managing major networks for companies such as Wells Fargo and Logisticare.
Charles was a man of faith and service, a devoted member and usher at Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He was known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He gave freely of himself, always putting the needs of others before his own. Charles loved deeply, laughed often, and lived life with a gentle strength and a kind heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Lottie Windom; his son, Obadiah Windom; and his sister, Joyce Windom Roberts.
Charles leaves behind a loving legacy and will be deeply missed by his son, Tobias Windom; his devoted sisters, Martha Windom Martin (Carroll), Eunice Windom Lambert, and Mary Windom Glover; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by his presence.
Though Charles has departed from this world, his spirit of kindness, loyalty, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory is a blessing and his life an inspiration.
The family of Charles Windom wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Carmena Strong, Eric Jacob, Tyesha Hatley, Etoyi Windom, Kenneth Bennett and Kevin Wiggins.
