Charlotte “Sista” McDuffie

Mrs. Charlotte McDuffie, affectionately known as “Sista,” was born on October 9, 1948, in Bishopville, South Carolina, to the late Harry and Frances Dixon Williams. On July 28, 2026, she ascended to heaven from the comfort of her home.

Charlotte was educated in the Lee County public school system and later relocated to Newark, New Jersey, where she started her family. She was employed for 20 years at Baby-Land Nursery and Childcare in Newark. In 2018, she returned home.

She was a strong-willed, independent, and passionate woman who had a deep love for her family. She was a dedicated and faithful servant who worked tirelessly at New Dawn BaptistChurch in Newark, New Jersey. Her angelic voice blessed the gospel choir, and when she was not singing, she faithfully served as a gatekeeper with the Usher Ministry.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Dixon Jr., Roosevelt Dixon, and Johnny Dixon; and two sisters, Janie Jefferson and Mattie Nowlin.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband, Isaih McDuffie Sr. of Bishopville, South Carolina; five daughters: Mary (Kenneth) Barnes of Easton, Pennsylvania;Veronica Peterson of Newark, New Jersey; Anita (Jimmy) Davis of Lexington, South Carolina; Arlene (Onward) Mosley of Virginia; and Kim McDuffie of Hartsville, South Carolina; three sons: Altonya Peterson of Columbia, South Carolina; IsaihMcDuffie Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; and Tyrone McDuffie of Hartsville, South Carolina; she was a loving and devoted grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Josephine (Robert) Wilson of Bishopville, South Carolina, and Mary Lizzie Rubin of Bishopville, South Carolina; five sisters-in-law; eight brothers-in-law; and one aunt, Marie Dixon of Baltimore, Maryland, she was cherished and loved by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
