Clara R. Moultrie was born on October 16, 1931 in Ruffin, South Carolina to the late King Walker and the late Rosella McMillan Walker. Our loving mother, family member and friend entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2020 at Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro, South Carolina. Home-Going Celebration will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Buckhead United Methodist Church, 346 Smyly Road, Ruffin, South Carolina at 1;00 p.m. Reverend Sheri White, Pastor and Eulogist. Interment, Heavenly Rest Memorial Garden, Walterboro, South Carolina. A public viewing will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 at Stephens-Maree-Tracy Funeral Home Chapel of Serenity from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
She was educated in the public schools of Colleton County, both in Ruffin and Walterboro. She attended Colleton Training School where she excelled in academics and played basketball.
She was a faithful and loyal member of Buckhead United Methodist Church for many years. She sang in the choir and served on the Usher Board. She was employed in the circulation department of the Press and Standard.
She was married to the late Henry Lee Clair Moultrie, Sr. and to this union, four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Moultrie, Sr.; a son, Henry L. Moultrie, Jr. and nine siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Veronica Moultrie, of Decatur, Georgia; two sons, Donald Moultrie (Irene) and David Moultrie (Fredrena), both of Columbia, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Matoya Moultrie of Hampton, Georgia, Kerron Moultrie of Miramar, Florida, and Christopher Moultrie of Columbia, South Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Izaiah Moultrie of Jessup, Georgia, and Tiffany Moultrie of Durham, North Carolina; special family member, Capers Johnson (Sandra) of North Charleston, South Carolina along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
