Clarence Barnwell was born on July 18, 1928, in Dorchester County, South Carolina. He transitioned to his heavenly home quietly on Saturday evening, June 10, 2023 with family and caregivers by his side.
He received his education in the public schools of Dorchester County, St, George, South Carolina. He was employed at the Bomb Plant in Aiken, South Carolina from 1955-1958. He then worked at Asten-Hill in Walterboro, South Carolina until retirement in 1988.
He married Queen Esther Haynes in 1955 and moved to Smoaks, South Carolina and to that union, there were no children. She passed away in December, 1985. Much later, he met and married Eartha Williams, to that union, there were no children. She passed away on March 13, 2003.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, who raised him, his wives, Queen Esther Haynes and Eartha Williams, his sister, Cherrye B. Mackey Jones and other siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memories, four nieces, Shirley Mackey Chapman and Carol Mackey of St. George, South Carolina, Doris Mackey of Orlando, Florida, and Carolyn Mackey of Savannah Georgia; two nephews, Joseph W. (Valencia) Mackey, III of St. George, South Carolina, and Anthony (Michelle) Gaston of Ridgeland, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Onitha Snipes of Walterboro, South Carolina and Pearl Snipes of Smoaks, South Carolina; one brother-in-law, Joe Kinsey, of Florida, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
