Deacon Willie A. Marshall was born on November 26, 1955, to the late Rev. Joeph and Mary Ann Reese Marshall. On December 15, 2025, God in His infinite wisdom, called home His servant, Past Master, brother, Willie Arthur “Bill” Marshall, a man whose life was marked by faith, service, and integrity.
He was educated in Lee County schools, graduating from Bishopville High School in 1974. He worked in the skilled trades and manual labor sector for several years before entering the manufacturing industry and ultimately retiring from Springs Industrial in 2002.
Bill was blessed with two children, Justin Atkinson and Kristin Janae Chandler. He met and married Minnie Jackson in 1997.
Bill accepted Christ at an early age and united with Gum Spring Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and on the Missionary and Trustee Ministries. He also sang with the adult choir and was later ordained as a Deacon on August 3, 2003. He carried out his duties with humility, compassion, and dedication, always seeking to serve others. His commitment to prayer, stewardship, and the care of God’s people reflected his deep love for the Lord and His church.
In addition to his church service, Bill was a devoted member of Lucknow Masonic Lodge #324, where he served as Past Master. As a Mason, he upheld the timeless principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth, living them not only within the lodge but in his daily walk. He was a mentor, a friend, and a steady presence whose wisdom and character left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Above all, Bill was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and a true friend. His gentle spirit, quiet strength, and legacy of faith, service, and compassion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jutin Atkinson; siblings, Joseph Jr., Archie, Audrey, Henry, Maxie, Queen, Erie, Gayle, Sammie Franklin, Josére Greene, and Jeffery Huggin.
His life will be cherished with loving and precious memories by his devoted wife, Minnie; his daughter, Kristin Janae Chandler; one sister, Sylvia Marshall; one brother, Huron (Monica) Marshall; five sisters-in-law: Susan Marshall, Suzanne Marshall, Louise Marshall, Jeanette Marshall, and Veronica (Jessie) Cornelius; six brothers-in-law: Aundra Kennedy, Dan B. (Patricia) Jackson, William (Tina) Jackson, Curtis (Joyce) Jackson, Samuel (Pearline) Jackson, and Benjamin (Linda) Jackson; goddaughters, T’Erie Marshall and Britney Marshall; one godson, D’Ali Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, Masonic brothers, and friends.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that he has fought the good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith. His life was a testimony, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
