Deaconess Nellie Miller Obituary

" A loving mother, doting grandmother, devout sister, adoring aunt and loyal friend," Mrs. Nellie Irene Laura Rouse Miller, affectionately known as mommy or aunt Nellie was born on July 9, 1937 in Twiggs County,  Georgia to the late Frank and Nelsie Rouse. She was called home by God to receive her wings the evening of May 20, 2022. She answered the Master's call and departed this life after 84 years on this earthly journey.

She grew up in Twiggs County, Georgia where she attended Jeffersonville High School.

Mrs. Miller attended New Hope Baptist Church and devoted her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized at the age of thirteen years old. She continued her Christian journey as a member of Various churches, working for the Lord as a leader of the Usher Board, Choir member, served on the Women's Auxiliary Board, and Missionary Prayer Warrior, served faithfully as a dedicated church member at Sandhill Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and on the Mother Board until her health declined.

She  was a devoted homemaker, gourmet cook and she worked as a dedicated housekeeper for thirty-five years in Syracuse, New York for Virginia Eldernardo and Dr. Ed and Louis Sugarman.

Mrs. Miller met and married Mr. Jesse James Miller of Walterboro, South Carolina. God blessed them with two children. To this union, Daisy Mae Miller and the late Jeffery Miller was born.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Miller and step-son, Nathaniel Miller.

Mrs. Miller leaves to cherish her memories, her dedicated children and step children, JoAnn Durham, Bobby Fields (Joyce), King Fields, Patricia Fields; step-children, George Sutton, Jessie Harshel (Greg), Vanessa Miller Dicks, Donna Lynn Smith, Donna Finney (Cameron); twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Gwenette Miller; and a host of caring  nieces, nephews, many loving family members and cherished friends, all of whom will miss her.

Mother Miller was a mother to all of these children and others and loved them dearly.
