Delores Colleton-Ferguson Obituary

Delores Colleton-Ferguson was Born on August 24, 1963, in Walterboro, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Henry and Patricia Colleton. She was called to eternal rest on November 3, 2025, at MUSC in Charleston, SC.

On December 23, 1992, she was united in holy matrimony to Marvin Ferguson, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and purpose. As a devoted educator with the Colleton County School District, Delores dedicated her life to shaping young minds and uplifting everyone around her. She believed deeply in the power of education and the lasting impact of perseverance and strong values—principles she instilled in both her students and her family. She found great joy in earning her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Trident Technical College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics from Limestone College. Her passion for learning and helping others extended beyond the classroom, reflected in her faith, her service, and the many lives she touched with kindness, creativity, and grace. Delores had many gifts, cooking, singing, sewing, and creating arts and crafts projects. She poured her heart into everything she did. She was known for her quick wit, creativity, and unshakable strength, always finding humor and grace even in challenging times. As a faithful member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Round O, she served joyfully on numerous boards and committees and lent her beautiful voice to the Inspirational and Gospel Choirs until her health began to decline.

Preceding her in death, a Special Aunt, Renner Mae Haynes, Louise Wilson, Julia Johnson, Uncles, Clyde Williams, Jessie Gant, Jimmy Williams, John Wesley Gant and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Ferguson and Lillie Dent.
