Diane Aiken Obituary

Diane Aiken, the daughter of the late Josh Aiken Sr. and the late Evelyn Williams Aiken, was born on June 12, 1952. Early in the morning of September 8, 2021, Diane and the Lord had a conversation. Diane’s time on earth with family and friends was ending and a new life was beginning.

Ms. Aiken was born and educated in Colleton County and later on attended Beaufort Technical College. While there, she took up cosmetology. She also worked as a home health aide for many years. Caring for people became a passion to her and it showed when various family members became ill. She took a role in caring for them as well.

Diane Aiken, an indescribable woman, and loved by many. But to try to explain who she was, mere adjectives would not suffice. Not only was she the life of any party, but when she stepped into any room, she owned it! She was a fashionista and absolutely loved getting dressed up. She also enjoyed decorating venues and making floral arrangements.  Cooking was also one of her favorite pastimes. Even though, everyone in the family could cook well, in her eyes, she was the best. She would cook and send food to anyone, to help with any occasion.

Out of all the things she loved, she loved her family. She was always willing to do anything for them. Some even said, “She thinks she’s everybody’s momma!” But one thing for sure, love didn’t hold her back from telling you exactly how she felt. She desired to become a part of the family of God and became a member of the Faith In Action Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Ollie M. White. She was dedicated to her church even if her presence was missed physically. Diane lived her life to the fullest and made an impression on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Josh Aiken Sr. and Evelyn Williams Aiken; a sister, Eve Davis and a brother, Jimmy Hamilton.

Diane’s  presence will be certainly missed by her daughter, Audrey Aiken Walker; granddaughter, Setega Aiken; grandson, Malik Magwood; a nephew whom she took as a son, Steven Davis; and her knee babies Gabrielle (Gabbyelle) Green and Duvar (Fatman) Stephens; her siblings, Josh (Susie) Aikens Jr., Darlene (Lee) Donaldson, Lucretia Aiken-Garrett, Ricky (Sabita) Aiken, Staretha Aiken, Roosevelt Davis, and Pearl Davis; a fond friend, Steve Bailey,  and  a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
