Diann Fortune, daughter of the late Willie Mae Fortune and Willie James Mack, was born on May 3, 1957 in Lee County, South Carolina. She departed peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at her home in Sumter, South Carolina.
Diann or “Ann” as she was affectionately known by family and friends. Ann was educated in the New York Public School Systems and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, NY. Ann was employed with a few jobs between Brooklyn, NY and South Carolina up until she got injured.
Ann was an extremely outgoing, lovable, and feisty person who didn’t take no mess. She could cut a rug, like no other and you couldn’t tell her no. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with all her heart.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae Fortune and Willie James Mack; Sister, Gloria Jean Mack; Brother, James Mack; Her significant other, Michael Lane Jones; and a nephew, Anton Mack.
Ann leaves to cherish her loving and profound memories, Her Daughters, Bernice Brown, Mellisa Fortune, and Shameka Fortune; Her Sons, Charome Fortune and Willie Fortune; Nine Grandkids, Dereon, Danaya, Erica, M’Lisha, RJ, Kiyaffi, Bryan, Bryce, Bryanna, and Isaiah; Eight Great Grandkids; One Aunt, Lillie Mae Meyers. She also leaves her very close cousins but more like siblings glued to the hip, Lucille Grier, Willie Reames, and Russell; Two Best Friends, Sonya Adams and Bertha Shivers and a host of extended niece(s), nephew(s), family and friends who loved her dearly.
