Obituary

Mrs. Ethel Mosley Goff , the daughter of the late Thadaeus and Queenie Jenkins Mosley, was born on September 7, 1923, in Colleton County, South Carolina. She entered into her state of eternal rest on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 7:10 AM at Brooklyn Center for Rehabilitation & Health Nursing Home in Brooklyn, New York.

At an early age Ethel accepted Christ and was baptized at Lovely Hill Baptist Church in Smoaks, South Carolina. She attended Johnsville Public School in Smoaks, South Carolina and Bamberg High School in Bamberg, South Carolina.

On March 14, 1943, she was united in marriage with Mr. Clemson Goff of Ruffin, South Carolina. From this union, God blessed them with one daughter, Virginia.

Several years after her marriage to Clemson, they moved to Brooklyn, New York. There she joined Zion Baptist Church and was a loyal member of the church and former member of the Order of Eastern Stars. She worked at King County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York as an x-ray technician, until her retirement.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Clemson; brothers, Leroy, James, Nathaniel and Thadaeus, Jr. Mosley; two sisters, Flossie Mosley Harrison and Annie Ruth Mosley Williams; and a son-in-law, Othea Williams.

Ethel’s family was the center of her life. She leaves to celebrate her life, one loving daughter, Virginia Goff Williams Basham, Brooklyn, New York; three grandchildren, Satiro Williams, Smoaks, South Carolina, Takisha Basham, Roanoke, Virginia, Quixota Basham, Brooklyn, New York; one great grandson, Tyler Williams Stokes, Walterboro, South Carolina; one sister, Ruth Mosley Shuler of Jamaica, New York; son-in-law, James Basham, Roanoke, Virginia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
