Evang. Gertrude Jamison Obituary

Evangelist Gertrude Mamie Yates Jamison, the daughter of the late Mr. Weldon Yates and Mrs. Gertie Readdy Yates was born on May 18, 1935 in Colleton County. She entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at her home in Walterboro, South Carolina.

Home-Going Celebration will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Walterboro Christian Center, 320 Robertson Blvd, Walterboro, South Carolina at 11:00 a.m. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.  Pastor Jadon Buckner, Pastor and Bishop Charles Williams, Eulogist.  Interment, Heavenly Rest Memorial Garden, Walterboro, South Carolina.  A public viewing will be held Monday, December 7, 2020 at Stephens-Maree-Tracy Chapel of Serenity from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Being born and raised in Ruffin, South Carolina, she attended Colleton County Schools. At the early age of seventeen, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was a member of New Bethel Holiness Church where she became an ordained Evangelist. Evangelist Jamison loved serving the Lord. She was a prayer warrior for many people near and far. She was always giving a word or listening to the Word of God on her favorite Gospel network Channels. She was a giver of her time, talents, love, and care. Evangelist Jamison was a great woman of God and Missionary to everyone she met. As a mother, she led by example, nurtured her children and others unconditionally, and disciplined in love. She was a great mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

On March 22, 1958, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Louis Jamison and to this union, four children were born.

Evangelist Jamison was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon Yates, and Gertie Readdy Yates; her siblings, Evangelist Virnease Yates Broughton, Minister Paul Yates, Gladys Yates Fryar, Thomas Yates, and Luenether Yates Broughton.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Louis Jamison;  three daughters, and one son, Lenora McTeer, Priscilla (Don) Fell, both of Walterboro, South Carolina, Rena (Terry) Gant of Cottageville, South Carolina, and Tim (Tawanna) Jamison of Walterboro, South Carolina; two adopted daughters, Beatrice (Howard) Bright of Walterboro, South Carolina and Beatrice (Andrew) Mole of Florence, South Carolina; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mildred Yates, Audrey Delaney, Janie Edwards, and  Regina Sanders; brothers-in-law, Willis (Shirley) Jamison, Gerald Lingard, Hubert Webb, and Earl Webb and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
