Geraldine Gilliard Stallings Obituary

Ecclesiastes 3:1 states “to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven”. Mrs. Geraldine Gilliard Stallings’ life was planned according to God’s specific time.

A TIME TO BE BORN: On February 4,1933 Geraldine Elizabeth Gilliard Stallings was born to the late Walter and Hannah Gilliard of Georgetown, S.C.

A TIME TO EDUCATE: Geraldine attended public schools in Georgetown, S.C. After graduating high school. She attended Benedict College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree and then began her career as an elementary school teacher in Colleton County School District until her retirement.

A TIME TO SERVE: Ms. Stallings committed herself to serving God all the days of her life. She joined the Rock of Ages CME Church family many years ago. There she served in numerous capacities to include member of the Senior Choir, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and President of the Stewardess Board.  She was also very active in the community and was well known to many. She served faithfully as an Election Poll worker, NAACP member, member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), and Tuskegee Airman Hiram E. Mann Chapter. She earned special recognition by the NAACP in 2008 and Tuskegee Airman Hiram E. Mann Chapter in 2006 and 2012 for her service. She even received the Key to the City by the Mayor for her work. However, her passion was her association with the Tuskegee Airman. She loved it!!

A TIME TO REFLECT: Ms. Stallings loved the Lord! Her faith and trust in God remained strong all the days of her life. She consistently started each day with prayer, scripture and devotional reading. She guided her children to do the same. She was a very caring, loving mother and wonderful role model. Her favorite song is “Everybody ought to know who Jesus is”. She was always willing to help others in need.

A TIME TO DEPART: At the age of 92, Geraldine Elizabeth Stallings entered into eternal rest on Tuesday November 18, 2025 at the Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, S.C. after a brief illness. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband Reverend Melvin E. Stallings and her second husband Reverend Jeff Middleton; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Gilliard Britton, Mrs. Ruth Gilliard Pollard; four brothers; Walter Gilliard, Jr, William J. Gilliard, Benjamin Gilliard, and Fred Gilliard; niece Pamela Pollard; her son-in-law Michael J. Richardson (Gwendolyn).
