Glenny Williams Obituary

Glenny Grace Simmons Williams was born on September 30, 1945 in Givhans, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Chris and Eva A. Simmons. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on April 10, 2026, in her home surrounded by her love ones.

Glenny was educated in the Public School System of Dorchester County, where she graduated. She later became the wife of Bertie L. Williams and she spent the next 57 years with him together, traveling, as a military Air Force wife. Places they traveled extended to overseas (England), across country (California), Georgia and abroad on vacations and other places.

Glenny enjoyed the outdoors. She loved plants of all varieties in her garden and yards. Although Glenny did not have any children of her own, she literally put the God in Godmother as she faithfully showed her nieces and nephews and any other extended member of the family, motherly affection. Never failing to show up for them when needed. Glenny also worked outside of the home on several jobs as a machinist for Exxon and Cummins to name a few. Outside of that Glenny was a loving Homemaker who took extra care of the man that held their home together by baking and cooking meals for him selflessly with joy and pride.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris Simmons and Eva A. Simmons; sister, Devern Simmons, and Mary S. Ashe; and brother, James W. Simmons.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, Bertie L. Williams; her nieces and nephews and in-laws, Vernether King, Roberta S. Felder, C. L. Simmons, Ruth Williams, Rubydell Williams, Albert Williams, Jr (Alison), Leon Williams (Diane); and best friend, Mazzie Morris and a host cousins other relatives and friends.
