Helen was born to the late Mr. Tom and Janie Kennedy. She was the baby of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death; thereby, making her the last of the” Kennedy’ named lineage of this family!
Helen Kennedy Prioleau slipped away peacefully into the sunset of life on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at her residence. Her gentle spirit is now comforted and healed by the grace of our eternal Father and Physician, Jesus Christ. It is well with her soul!
Helen was educated in the public schools of Walterboro, South Carolina where she graduated and moved to New York City. Helen got married in New York and now began working and rearing her children. As years went by, she and her husband decided to build a home and move back to Walterboro to foster the growth and education of her children. Upon the unfortunate death of her husband, Helen eventually found love again with her soulmate, Silas Prioleau. Silas lovingly brought newfound joy and happiness into Helen’s life. He patiently took great care of his soulmate throughout her illness and throughout the remainder of her lifetime. Truly, when you saw one, you saw the other. They shared a lifetime of happiness, joy, peace and memories many would wish to emulate!
Growing up knowing the importance of a relationship with God, Helen and Silas worshipped and were faithful members of New Life United Methodist Church. Helen sang on the adult choir for many years when she was able and rarely missed a Sunday. We can truly remember Helen with a beautiful smile, a playful manner and a comical demeanor. If ever you were down or sad, Helen was the one to bring you to the brighter side! God gives everyone a light to shine and it is up to you to make that light shine. Family, friends and love ones all aggregated to Helen’s house for many family cookouts, holidays and just plain fun and laughter!
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jimmy Stewart, and grandson, Troy Stewart.
Loved ones left to cherish Helen’s memories are her loving husband, Silas Prioleau of the home, her beloved children, Furman “Skippy” Woodson Jr. (Susan) of Seattle, Washington, and Angela Memminger (Wayne), of Walterboro, South Carolina; Grandchildren, Jimmy “JJ” Alexander Stewart, New Delhi, India, Erin Rebecca Oxner, (Ray), Charleston, South Carolina, Phillip Woodson, Chicago, Illinois, Morgan Woodson, Seattle, Washington, Kenneth Evans (Sharmanique), Norfolk, Virginia, and Kimberly Evans, Nashville, Tennessee, as well as a host loved of ones, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
