Mr. Herbert Hodges, Jr. was born November 30, 1943. He was the oldest of the late Herbert Hodges, Sr. and the late Merlene Hodges. He entered eternal rest on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the J & T Residential Care Facility in Hampton, South Carolina.
He grew up and was educated in the public schools of Colleton County. He was a member of the Springtown United Methodist Church. He served as a member of the Male Chorus and United Methodist Men. He worked for the Dye Plant and Georgia Pacific for over 40 years. His hobbies included watching “The Jeffersons”, raising a farm, and telling jokes.
He was united in holy matrimony to Miss Verria Mae Salley and to this union four children were born. He later married Wilsie Carroll Hodges.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Verria and two children, Bennie and Sheila.
Herbert Jr. leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Wilsie Carroll Hodges; his children, Michelle “Relly” Hodges, George Hodges, Susan White, and Lamar “Herb” Hodges; his grandchildren Dicerria Cheeke (Kevin), Mercedes Hodges, Christopher Hodges, Sr., George Hughes; a host of great grandchildren; his siblings, Raymond Hodges, Harold Hodges, Earnestine Hodges, Rachel Hodges; brothers-in-law, Bobby Boatwright, Jonathan (Carolyn) Carroll, Willie (Arlene) Carroll; sisters-in-law, Herlene Salley, Mona Lisa Hodges, Lottie Hodges, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
