Idella Veronica Simmons

Miss  Idella Veronica Simmons, affectionately known as Mammy, daughter of the late Isaiah Simmons and Bernice Gatling Simmons. Idella was born on November 29, 1965. She entered into eternal rest on October 15, 2023 at her home in Smoaks, South Carolina.

She was educated in the Colleton County Public School System. She became a member of Bethel United Methodist Church at an early age. Idella loved her family especially her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah and Bernice Gatling Simmons; her two sisters, Shelia D. Simmons and Patricia A. Stephens; one sister-in-law, Gracie Simmons; three brothers-in-law, William H. Stephens,Sr. Nathaniel Brown, and Isaac Hiers, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Donte Chisolm of Ruffin, South Carolina, Crystal Badger of Yemassee, South Carolina, Athon Q. Badger of Lake City, Florida and James E. King of Walterboro, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Donyelle Chisolm and Nelly Chisolm; six sisters, Linda Hiers, Gwendolyn Simmons and Darlene Simmons all of Smoaks, South Carolina, Juanita Gatling of Long Island City, New York, Louvenia Simmons of Branchville, South Carolina and Tracy Simpson (Matthew) of Walterboro, South Carolina; two brothers, Thomas Simmons (Yvonne), Smoaks, South Carolina, and Reginald Gatling (Minnie) of Gates, North Carolina; a special friend, Joseph Chisolm of Smoaks, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
