Inez Middleton Brown

Inez Middleton Brown, daughter of the late James Middleton and the late Essie George Middleton, was born in Bamberg County, South Carolina, on August 01, 1924. On February 01, 2023, her life became a completed chapter, at her home, in Walterboro, South Carolina.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Joe Henry Brown in January 1950 and to this union they had twelve children.   

Inez was a believer of education. She made sure her children went to school.  She taught them cleanliness is next to godliness. Always kind, loving and respectful. A true virtuous woman.

She understood the value of hard work and what she needed to do to be a productive wife and mother. She was a seamstress and a baker in her early days. She was a homemaker. She was the mother of the church and called Mother Brown.

Inez accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age which led her to deep religious beliefs. She was a faithful member of the Greater St. James Holiness Church now Saints Center Ministries. She was a proud member of the Usher Board where she served for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband,Joe Henry Brown; sons- Charles Checks, Joe Nathan Brown, Ernest Brown, and John Holmes; three-grandchildren: Diamond Brown, Evan Holmes, Sherry Brown, and Andre McCall.

Inez leaves to cherish fond memories-three sons: Jerry (Cynthia) Brown of Charlotte, NC, Michael (Dale) Brown and William Brown of Walterboro, SC; five daughters: Maryann Fulton of Daytona Beach, FL, Janice Brown, Trina White, Helen Brown, and Gwendolyn Brown of Walterboro, SC; thirty grandchildren, forty-nine great grandchildren;  daughters-in-law: Gloria Holmes and Geneva Brown of Walterboro, SC; Hattie Brown of Beaufort, SC; and Lorine Checks of Fort Lauderdale, FL. and a host of other relatives and friends.
