October 4, 1944 ~ August 13, 2020 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Isaiah Scriven Obituary

A beautiful life ended on Thursday, August 13, 2020, when Isaiah Scriven was called home to eternal rest at Prisma Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC, surrounded by his loving family. Born October 4, 1944, in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Robert Scriven, Sr. and Mattie Gilliard Scriven.

Graveside Service honoring the life of Isaiah will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Church of Christ Cemetery at 12:00 Noon.  Minister Sylvester McCray, Pastor and Eulogist.  A public viewing will be held Monday, August 17, 2020 at Robert Scriven, Jr. Memorial Chapel of the Ephriam D. Stephens Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. 

(THOSE ATTENDING THE SERVICE ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR FACIAL MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE ENFORCED.) 

Isaiah was united in marriage to Mary Glasscho of Sumter and from this union they were blessed with one son.

Isaiah was a graduate of Lincoln High School and was an active member of the high school band.  In his youth, he became a member of St. Mark Four Bridges Baptist Church and served there for many years. He had a love for singing and playing gospel music. Isaiah along with his brothers Robert, Henry and several close friends started a gospel group called the Tavelinaires. He later became the manager of a female gospel group called the Majestics. Isaiah was a man of faith. He loved the Lord and he loved attending church until his health would not allow him to be active. He was employed at Georgia Pacific and Exide.

He was a cheerful and upbeat person, even when he didn’t feel his best. He had a smile that made him loved by all ages. Before his illness, he spent his free time bowling and spending time at Scriven’s Funeral Home with his brother Robert.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene S. Jackson, Annie Mae S. Ragin; brothers, Johnny, Robert, Jr., Henry and Marion Scriven, as well as, several aunts and uncles.

His memories will be cherished by his loving wife, Mary Glasscho Scriven; one son, James Rosson Scriven and a stepson Brandon Scriven; , four grandsons, Emardrick, Jerrod , Josiah , and Jalen Isaiah Scriven; one great-grand son, Julius Scriven; two aunts, Anna Green and  Pearl Scriven;  one uncle , Henry ( Mamie) Scriven; two sisters in law, Gladys Scriven and Coralette Scriven; devoted cousins, Gloria Scriven McFadden and Charles (PeeWee) Scriven; devoted friends, Rosa Mae Holiday,  Allen Jefferson and Betty Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
