James Sampson Obituary

Mr. James Daniel Sampson affectionately known as "Tony" and professionately known to others as "Speedy" was born on February 15, 1961 in Walterboro, South Carolina to Carrie Samuel Sampson and the late James Wilson Sampson. He entered into eternal rest on June 24, 2019 in Colleton County.  Home-Going service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Walterboro Christian Center, 320 Robertson Blvd. at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jadon Buckner, Host Pastor and The Reverend James B. Grant,II Eulogist.  Interment, Belton Cemetery, Ruffin, South Carolina.  A public viewing will be held Friday, June 28, 2019 at the S-M-T Chapel of Serenity from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Tony was educated in the public schools of Colleton County and he was a 1979 graduate of Ruffin High School. He furthered his education at South Carolina State University of Orangeburg, South Carolina. He worked various jobs before finding his passion as a Bail Bondsman, being in service for over twenty-five years. To know Tony was to love him. He never met a stranger and would quote that Bible from front to back. He also enjoyed reading all kinds of books and keeping his community clean by picking up trash along the roads. Tony, when encountered, always had a word of advice. A wise man who will be truly missed.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Priscilla Crosby Sampson, his high school sweetheart, on November 26, 1981 and to this union four daughters were born.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Priscilla and father J.W. Sampson.

He leaves to cherish his memories, five daughters, Sharonda (LeAnder) Anderson of Spartanburg, SC, Danielle (Vincent) Williams, Courtney Sampson, and Kimberly Sampson, all of Ruffin, SC and Toni Jones of Walterboro, SC; his loving mother, Carrie Sampson of Ruffin, SC; twelve grandchildren, Tyrick, Zion, Taniya, Terrance, JaQuantae, Jayla, Jordan, Zania, Noah, Liberty, Raleigh, Milan; three sisters, Minister Novice (Harry) Briggs, Terry Sampson both of Orangeburg, SC, and Gail (Dwight) Jones of Summerton, SC; five aunts, Louise Fryar, Ammie (Johnny) Green, Ozene (Harvey) Fryar, Martha Johnson, Marie Sampson; one great aunt, Redell Fields of Walterboro, SC, two brothers-in-law, Leonard (Shawnda) Crosby, and Bernard (Lakeesha) Crosby; three special friends, Henry L.
