James Anthony "Jimmy" Greene

James Anthony Greene Obituary

James Anthony Greene (Jimmy) was born on March 8, 1950 in Walterboro, South Carolina. He was the son of the late James Greene and Hermena Fullard. Jimmy moved to New York City at a very young age. 

He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1968 in New York.

Jimmy was married to Zelda Greene and to this union, two sons were born, Troy Greene and Rakiem Greene.

Throughout his life, Jimmy was very loving and kind. He loved his family and close friends. Wherever he went, he helped family members and friends with household repair and technology. Jimmy was blessed and understood how different machines worked.

Jimmy worked at various positions until being sworn in as a Correctional Officer for the New York City Department of Corrections. He worked in the Manhattan House of Detention (The Tombs) AMKC C-95 and The Bronx Criminal Supreme Court –(RVC) Rikers Island. He retired from the New York City Department of Corrections in 1999.

Jimmy was a member of the Prince Hall Masons State of New York Lewis Hayden Lodge #69.  Jimmy was the founder and owner of JAG Security Company until he relocated to Flowery Branch, Georgia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Greene and Hermena Fullard; and his brother Michael T. Greene.

Jimmy is survived by a life-time companion, Pamela Mitchell; a devoted stepfather, Bill Fullard; three brothers, Anthony Greene (Delphine) of Georgia, Dexter Greene of Virginia and Pastor Dennis Mitchell of Florida; sister, Stephanie V. Mitchell of Walterboro, South Carolina; grandchildren, Troy Green, Jr., Atiyah Greene, Samiyah Greene, Yasir Greene, Safir Greene, Tyhir Greene, Rakiem Greene, Jr., and Avonna Greene; great-grandchildren, Na’ila Greene, Aniyah Greene, Zaviya Greene, Zoey Greene, Zafir Greene, Kadir Greene, An’nia Greene, Zidid Greene, Yair Greene, Jr., Sayori Greene, Samyrah Greene, Ximena Greene Safir Greene, Jr., Tyhir Greene, and Lakelynn Greene and a host of other relatives and friends.
