Janie Wilson Toney affectionately known as “Suntoe” was born December 20, 1956, in Lee County, South Carolina to Cornell and Ernest Wilson. She gained her wings on March 23, 2026, at McLeod Hospital in Florence, South Carolina.
Janie was a devoted mother, daughter, wife and sister. She was a sweet kind-hearted person who showed class, love and respect to others. For several years, she was employed as a domestic worker. In her earlier years, she joined Unionville AME Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Cornell and Ernest Wilson; two brothers, Curtis and Robert Wilson; one sister, Vernice Toney; her grandparents; several aunts, uncles, family members and friends.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories her daughters, Debra Wilson of the home, Vernell Toney whom she helped raise of Bishopville, South Carolina; two sons, whom she helped raise, Brientell (Martell) Montgomery and Nashawn Toney both of Bishopville, South Carolina; two special nephews, whom she loved like her child, Kingston Wilson of the home and Rasheem Peoples of Bishopville, South Carolina; three sisters, Ernestine Wilson of the home, Edna Carter of Elliott, South Carolina and Barbara Henry of Lynchburg, South Carolina; one brother, Johnny (Lucinda) Wilson of the home ; an estrange husband, Larry Toney of St. Charles, South Carolina; two aunts, Neola Mcleod of Bishopville, South Carolina and Rosetta Williams; a special sister-in-law, Willie Mae Johnson of Bishopville, South Carolina; a special friend, Katherine Sherod of Bishopville, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, family and friends that will miss her dearly.
