Obituary

Jenive Jones was born on March 23, 1950 to the late Mr. Ruben Jenkins and late Mrs. Chessie Stokes Jenkins.  After an extended illness, she peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on January 9, 2021 at Prisma Medical Center Columbia, SC. She was affectionately known as “Coot” by all who knew her well.

Home-Going Service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Lovely Hill Baptist Convention Center, St. George, South Carolina at 12:00 noon.  Reverend Floyd W. White, Eulogist.  Interment, John Brown Cemetery, Smoaks, South Carolina.  A public viewing will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at Stephens-Maree-Tracy Funeral Home Chapel of Serenity from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. 

(THOSE ATTENDING SERVICE ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A FACIAL MASK, AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE ENFORCED.)  

She joined Lovely Hill Baptist Church of Smoaks, South Carolina and accepted Christ in her life at an early age. 

She attended   the public schools of Colleton County, South Carolina.  She worked as a sewing machine operator for several years before partnering with a close friend/cousin and they started J& B Catering.  Jenive enjoyed cooking, traveling, shopping, and attending Gospel programs.

Jenive was joined in holy matrimony to Rose Chisolm Jones, Jr. and to this union two daughters and two sons were born. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be forever remembered for her kind heart.  She was a devoted member of Lovely Hill Baptist Church where she diligently served as an Usher and a Member of the Southern Six of Smoaks, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben Jenkins and Chessie Jenkins; son she raised in the home, Blake Stephens; granddaughter, Raven Simone Sampson; great grandson, Kason Jones; brothers, Ruben Jenkins Jr. ((Dorothy Lee), Joe Louis Jenkins, Sr.; sisters-in-law Catherine Jenkins, Irene Jenkins, Maddie Heath Jones, and Carrie Lena Stephens

 brothers-in-law Nathaniel Harrison, Bill Jones, Alonzo Key, and Julius Stephens.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Rose Chisolm Jones; her children, Rose Marie Jones of Columbia, SC , Letonya Methrell Jones of Smoaks, SC, Demetric Cornelius Jones of Smoaks, SC, Latoya Denise Risher (Jerome, Jr.) of Augusta, Ga; her grandchildren, two whom were raised in the home, Jaydarius and Janashia; Raheem, Rakeem, Aaliyah, Melissa, Jamyah, Demetria, Destini, Jakayla, Jakhia and Janiya; 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Isreal Jenkins, Davis Jenkins, Sr., Evangelist Vela Mae Harrison, Minister Elouise Mosley (Ernest) and Carrie Jenkins; sisters-in- law, Rosa Lee Key, Bessie Jenkins, Thomosina Jones; brothers- in-law, John Lee Jones (Sharon), Leon Jones, John Arthur Washington (Mable); two aunts, Redell Fields, Francis Jenkins; special daughter-in-law, Lesile Jones; special friends, Kadedrea Jones, Jason Cabbagestalk, Angela Williams, Jerry Brower, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
