John H. Cooper, was born on March 21, 1934 to the late Verdine Holmes Lewis in Colleton County. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, after an extended illness. Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Beaufort National Cemetery at 12:00 Noon, Reverend Jerome Clark, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Stephens-Maree-Tracy Funeral Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
He attended the public schools of Colleton County, Colleton Training School and Colleton High School in Walterboro, South Carolina. After completing high, he joined the United States Air Force. While enlisted, he received the National Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal w/2BL. He served his country faithfully and was honorably discharged after ten years of service.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Mrs. Ruby Rivers Doctor Cooper on May of 2001. In his past-time he enjoyed fishing, cooking and being with family and friends. He attended Cypress Creek Christian Church.
He leaves to cherish his wife, Ruby Rivers Doctor Cooper of Walterboro, South Carolina; a stepson, Minister Bill Doctor (Karen); a stepdaughter, Linda Singleton (Kenneth) of Walterboro, South Carolina; a special step-grand daughter, Michelle Pinckney and grandsons, Shawn Pinckney of Walterboro, South Carolina and Brian Pinckney (Vincy) of Charlotte, North Carolina and one niece of Philadelphia, PA.
