Johnnie Green, Sr. 98, was born on April 8, 1924, in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, to the late Ben and Elizabeth Green. He entered into eternal rest on September 30, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was educated in the Public Schools and graduated from high school in 1941. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army, where he fought in the Korean War. After military, he relocated his family to Kansas City, Missouri and worked twenty-five years at Sears & Roebuck Company. He retired in 1986 and he and his wife returned to Ruffin, South Carolina where he then became a member of Red Root United Methodist Church.
Johnnie was joined in Holy Matrimony on January 7, 1956, to Amie Lee Sampson. They celebrated sixty-six years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Elizabeth Green; his siblings, Robert Green, Florrie Brown, Annie Williams, Betty Bell and Rosa Sessions.
Johnnie leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Amie Lee Sampson Green; his children, Johnnie Green Boatwright (Sallie), Delphenia Wilson, Johnnie Green, Jr. (Gloria), Reginald Lee Green (Joanne), Debbie Pullins (Kevin); numerous grandchildren, (two raised in the home, Michael and Michelle Green), great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
