Johnny Jo’Nathan "Dudis" Williams, Jr.

A radiant light has gone out on this side of heaven, but its warmth will forever shine in our hearts. A devoted father and treasured loved one, he lived a life full of love, laughter, and grace.

On the morning of Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 6:23 a.m., God and his angels called Johnny Jo’Nathan Williams, Jr. affectionately known as “Dudis,” to his precious eternal rest CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia.

Johnny was loved and cherished by many. He was born on June 23, 1990, to Geneva Boyd and the late Johnny Williams Sr. He was raised in the city of Bishopville, South Carolina. He attended Lee County Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 2009 from the Lee County Adult Education Center in Bishopville, South Carolina.

During Johnny’s childhood, he grew up on Edgefield, where he cherished his family and loved ones. He also spent part of his upbringing in New York City, where he embraced the culture and gained an abundance of love and support. He was baptized at First Sharon Baptist Church in New York. Johnny aspired to become a writer and poet. He was employed for several years at Sumter Utilities, Buffalo Wild Wings, and, most recently, Country Inn in West Virginia.

Johnny will be deeply missed by a plethora of family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Williams, Sr.; his brother, Alphonso Simon; his paternal grandparents Jonathan and Lucille Williams; his maternal grandfather, Jesse Boyd;  his aunt, Jessie Mae Boyd; and his cousins, Shakez Bracey and Nashon Hickmon.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Geneva Boyd of Bishopville, SC; his grandmother, Mae Ella Boyd of Bishopville, SC; his brother, Davidion Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; his only sister, Kiakeya Williams of Bishopville, SC.

He also leaves behind his beloved children, Tavis Williams (mother, Shanara Charles) of Bishopville, SC, Jace Williams and Aria Williams (mother, Amerisa Popps) of Sumter, SC; one nephew, Ky’heim Toney; two nieces, Kasya Toney and Kaveah Nelson, all of Bishopville, SC; Three godsons, Altrez Hickman, Natavion Boyd, and Millan Thomas; two goddaughters, Ty'lasia McDonald and Ki'Oree A. Williams, all of Bishopville, South Carolina; and one godsister, Jania Boyd of Bishopville, South Carolina. 

Johnny also leaves to cherish his memory a special friend, Josh Slater of West Virginia; three special aunts, Betty Boyd, Joanne (Sharif) Boyd, and Barbara Boyd, all of Bishopville, South Carolina; three other aunts, Debbie Williams, Linda Scarbrough, and Glenda Williams, all of Bishopville, South Carolina; four uncles, James Dixon of Lamar, South Carolina, and Jesse Boyd Jr., Ronnie Lee Boyd, and Robert Boyd, all of Bishopville, South Carolina.

He also leaves special cousins, Felicia, Adrienne, Luey, Yae, Kenya, Givens, Kesse, Barney, Bob, Doughboy, Ginger, Beetlejuice, Kiera, Kook, and Ladybug; three special brothers, DeAblo, Mike, and Earl; along with a host of other cousins, relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
