Julius Deal Obituary

Julius Antwian Deal was born on December 17, 1984, to George & Terri Deal. He departed this earthly life to his eternal resting place on February 11, 2025.  Whether you knew him as Tanka, JuJu, JD, or Jada, he made a lasting impression wherever he went and always made sure to feed you whenever you came to visit him.

In his early years, Julius was a member of Sandhill Baptist Church, where he sang in the male choir. As an adult, he and his family joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in Centreville, Virginia. He was a member of Stansfield Turner Stewart #53 Knights of Pythagoras and became a member of Sunlight Masonic Lodge #221 in 2005.

Julius attended Colleton County Schools, dominated on the football field, and graduated from Colleton County High Class of 2003. After receiving a football scholarship to North Greenville University, Julius graduated with double majors in Business Administration and Accounting in 2007. He was also a graduate of Harvard Business School Executive Education in Organizational Leadership and the Federal Executive Institute Leadership Program.

“He who finds a wife, finds a good thing.” During a trip home from college, Julius met the “Apple of his eye” Courtney, in 2005. They joined together in holy matrimony in 2008. From this union, Jayla Cymone and Chase Jaxson were born.

He began his professional journey in the government sector with the Naval Audit Service in 2007. In 2008, he transitioned to Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), as a junior auditor. Julius served in numerous leadership positions including Supervisory Auditor, FAO Manager, Special Programs Manager, Corporate Audit Manager, and in September 2024 became one of the youngest Deputy Corporate Audit Directors. Julius strategically led over 120 employees in 4 field offices from Virginia to Colorado. Within the agency, he was known to be a selfless servant and strong advocate for DCAA. Julius also served as President, Vice President, and Treasurer for the EXPO Principal Investment Club.

Julius loved to brag about his children. He was known in the community as Coach J. From soccer, track, volleyball, softball, baseball, football, and basketball, he coached every sport his children were involved in. He was a great coach, and families loved how he would push their children to excel in their given sport. Julius loved turning on the grill, music, and having dance parties with his wife and children. He also loved to spend time with “Our Village” Kenneth (Keywana) Saxby, Mohammed (Ericka) Rauf, Romarise (Kellina) Williams, Theodore (Shenita) Hamilton, Quinton (Mieshia) Gant, Steven (Brittany) Payne, and William (Maria) Ferran.

He leaves to cherish and carry his memory, his wife, Courtney, daughter, Jayla, and son Chase of Clifton, Virginia. His parents, George and Terri Deal of Walterboro, SC. Two brothers George Allen (Ashley) of Alexandria, VA and Tyler (Jessie) of Walterboro, SC. One sister, Victoria, of Walterboro, SC.
