Kevin was born on July 1, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He gained his wings on April 17, 2026 in Townsend, Delaware.
Kevin Anthony Stephens, of Asheville, North Carolina was a remarkable individual known for his unwavering dedication and exemplary achievements. Educated in Baltimore City Public Schools, Kevin’s academic journey was extraordinary in which he was a true anomaly and achieved both his GED and a Traditional High School Diploma in the same year. In 1984 Kevin’s thirst for knowledge led him to be selected to attend Provident Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland. As a nurse, He earned the prestigious “Daisy Award” for excellence in the nursing field. His service in the United States Marine Corps earned him an Honorable Discharge in 1977.
Kevin left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. Kevin accepted Christ at an early age and continuously studied the bible from Genesis to Revelations.Affectionately referred to as “Professor” by those who knew him, Kevin excelled in every endeavor he pursued. At a very young age, he learned to play the keyboard by ear and mastered it. As a talented musician he found solace and joy in music throughout his life. Martial arts posed no challenge to Kevin, as he attained top degrees and belts in the discipline. Kevin was also a Prince Hall Mason in North Carolina.
Throughout his career, Kevin worked tirelessly at prestigious institutions such as the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit and Charles George Veterans Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, from which he recently retired after 16 years of dedication to his patients and colleagues.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Dry and Ellen Marjorie Stephens Dry.
Kevin is survived by his loved ones: Siblings, Gregory R. Stephens (Patricia Ann) of St. Helena Island, South Carolina, Andre R. Dry (Lisa) of Baltimore, Maryland, Terry-Michele Mobley (Maurice) of Townsend, Delaware, Ellen Dry-Solomon (William) of Baltimore, Maryland, Deidra Taylor (T. Gannon) and Monica Wimberly of Baltimore, Maryland; Aunts, Gloria, Lottie Jeanette, Susan and Cora-Lee; two Uncles, John Alls and Charles Younginer; his loyal niece, Pamela Seawell of Baltimore, Maryland; his closest friends Daphne, Felix, David and Dana of Asheville, North Carolina; his Pastor Ronald Gates and Greater Works Church family and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends and Colleagues to cherish hismemories.
In the hearts of those who knew him, Kevin’s legacy of excellence, passion for learning, and commitment will endure as a source of inspiration and admiration. May he rest in peace.
