Leonard LaVan “Jimmy” Peele was born on September 7, 1951 in Williamston, North Carolina to the late Henry and Carrie Mae Peele. He entered into eternal rest on April 7, 2023.
Leonard fondly called "Jimmy" graduated from E. J. Hayes High School in 1969. After graduating, he moved to Washington, D.C. to attend dental school. While attending dental school, he obtained employment with Merkel. However, his desire to be a Pressman overrode his desire to become a dentist. He worked for various other printing companies before accepting a job printing currency with the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). He would joke around and say, “I make $1 million a day and can’t bring one penny home.” Leonard met and married his wife, Lydia Phyllis Campbell on September 7, 1974. Their union was blessed with two children.
Leonard “Jimmy” loved fishing and could be found at a neighborhood pond in Williamston and also when he went on vacation in the South; he would join others at the fishing sight. He hada love for cooking, computers and clocks. His home was full of the latter two. He was a gourmet cook on the grill and in the kitchen. He loved his family and would sometimes call several timesin one day just to make sure they were okay. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by two sisters Shirley Bell and Phyllis Gail Gorham.
