Mr. Louis Butterfield, 69, son of Elise Walker and the late Willie James Dickerson was born in Bamberg County, South Carolina on January 4, 1952. He departed this life on January 10, 2021 at his residence.
Graveside Service will be held Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Eastside Memorial Cemetery, Walterboro, South Carolina at 1:30 p.m. Minister Chris Crabb, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Stephens-Maree-Tracy Funeral Home Chapel of Serenity from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Louis was educated in the Colleton County School District. Upon graduation, he began his career with Piggly Wiggly where he remained employed for thirty-six years. After a brief stay at home, he began employment with Colleton County where he was a driver for the roads/bridge crew. He was a faithful worker for four and one-half years. Louis also served in the National Guard for twenty-two years.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Walterboro, South Carolina. He worked in any capacity that he was needed. He especially enjoyed keeping the church yard clean. Studying the word of God was important to him. He always attended Bible class and was eager to learn and strived to be faithful until the end.
Louis had a quiet gentle spirit and just an overall good person to everyone he came in contact with daily. He loved to work in his yard and around his house.
He married Patricia Mincey Butterfield on April 6, 1974. They were married for forty-six years and to this union four children were born.
Louis was preceded in death by his father, Willie James Dickerson; his sister, Patricia Daniels; and grandson, Ja'len Butterfield.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Patricia Mincey Butterfield of the home; four children, Yolanda Hall of Panama City, Florida, Louis Butterfield, Jr. of Panama City, Florida, Terrence Butterfield of Mississippi, and Tiffany Butterfield of Dothan, Alabama; seven grand children, Rashawn Burgess, Akeelah Hall, Ikeim Butterfield, Jacquez Butterfield, Jemeri Butterfield, Azeria Judkins and Ahmir Judkins; his mother, Elise Walker of Walterboro, South Carolina; two sisters, Mary Ann Walker Edwards (Larry) of Walterboro, South Carolina and Tracy Walker of Walterboro, South Carolina; one brother, Willie Butterfield; uncle, John Dowling of Orangeburg, South Carolina; three aunts, Annette Clowney of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Marvenie Denmark of Jacksonville, Florida and Jean Legree of Bamberg, South Carolina; two great aunts, Eddie Mae Jones and Annie Jones of Bamberg, South Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Estis Mincey, Jr. and Norman Mincey, both of Walterboro, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Alice Legree of Brooklyn, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
