Lue Bertha Ford

Lue Bertha Ford was born January 25, 1938 to the late Edward and Florrie Bell Ford. She was the oldest in a family of ten children: Carrie Ada Ree, Edward, Jr., Aretha, Richmond, Amos, Robert, Eugene and Cynthia.

Lue Bertha traded her earthly home to eternal rest on Monday night, August 10, 2026 at Trident Medical Hospital, Charleston, SC with her family by her side.

During her childhood years, she attended St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Youmans. There she developed a love for the Lord that she carried throughout her life. Especially in her later years, she expressed her love through daily Bible readings and many Bible discussions.

Lue received her education in the public schools in Colleton County, including Ritter Elementary School, Ritter, SC and the old Colleton High School, Walterboro, SC. She was a loyal employee of Ideal Laundry, Walterboro, SC for several years. There she shared a special bond with her fellow workers.

Lue Bertha was the proud mother of eleven children. Leaning on the love and support of her parents, she raised them all. As a young Beautiful mother, she was often mistaken as their sister rather than the mother.

In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her sons, Bernard and Kenneth; daughter, Shelia; brother, Edward Jr. and sister, Carrie.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her eight children: Jessie Saxby, Nathaniel (Greta), Pattie, Ray Charles (Sandra), Johnny (Linda), Wallace (Mary), Bruce, and Carl. Her siblings: Ada Chaplin, Aretha Davis, Richmond, Amos (Shirley), Robert (Rosa), Eugene and Cynthia. She will also be missed by 13 grandchildren, two who she raised as her own; Michael and Lakkia; 25 great grands; 3 great-great grands and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
