Maggie Cooper Obituary

Ms. Maggie Virginia Cooper, a native of Padgett, South Carolina, was born September 9, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Mrs. Agnes Cooper.  She was the baby of nine children.  Maggie was the loving mother of Valerie Cooper and the late Sheila Cooper.  She departed this life peacefully Tuesday, February 16, 2021.  Maggie was a member of Little Swamp Battiest Church in Padgett, South Carolina and Universal Baptist Church in New York.

Home-Going Celebration will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Stephens-Maree-Tracy Funeral Home Chapel of Serenity.  Reverend Gregory Clayton, Eulogist.  Interment, Sandhill Baptist Church Cemetery, Walterboro, South Carolina.  A public viewing will be held the day of service.

(THOSE ATTENDING FUNERAL SERVICE ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A FACIAL MASK IN ORDER TO GAIN ENTRY OF THE FUNERAL HOME.) 

Maggie moved to Brooklyn, New York to pursue her career as a nurse’s aide of 35 years before retiring.  She was the Captain of NYCHA Tenant Patrol in Tompkins Housing for the Board of Elections, and servicing the community. 

She loved coming home to Walterboro, South Carolina to sit on her porch and greet family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Valerie; granddaughter Valgina, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
