Malachi Taylor, Sr. Obituary

Malachi Taylor, Sr., born June 14, 1940, in Walterboro, South Carolina, entered this world as the third of four sons born to Isaac Taylor, Sr. and Evelyn Daniels Taylor. Raised on John Taylor Lane in a home built by his father, Malachi grew up with a strong foundation of family, hard work, and determination.

From childhood, Malachi was known for his unwavering resolve and fighting spirit. He never backed down from a challenge and approached every task with focus and persistence. After graduating high school at the age of 19, he left Walterboro and moved to New York, where he reunited with family and began building a life rooted in dedication and service.

With the support of his cousin, Allie‑Fae McKenzie, Malachi secured employment at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. He began as a porter and, through hard work and commitment, advanced to the roles of Laboratory Technician and Vein Puncture Technician. His responsibilities included drawing and testing blood specimens with precision, supporting critical testing for DNA, pregnancy, and various diseases. Throughout his 37‑year career, Malachi never forgot the help he received and generously assisted many friends and family members in finding employment as well.

Malachi retired in August 1996 after decades of faithful service. He was married several times and was the proud father of three sons: Kenneth Sr., Bashan, and Malachi Jr. He leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

In his later years, Malachi returned to Walterboro, settling once again on the land where he was raised. He remained the driving force behind his family’s property—strong, determined, and focused as ever. To his family and all who knew him, Malachi was a respected leader, a steady presence, and a man deeply cherished and loved.

His legacy of perseverance, generosity, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
