Mary Louise Mack was the daughter of the late Edward Mack and Mary Bell Spigner Mack. She was born on August 23, 1950, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and peacefully entered eternal rest on January 12, 2026 at her home.
Mary was a lifelong member of Bull Swamp Baptist Church in Orangeburg, where she participated in various ministries, including the Missionary Society, where she faithfully served as secretary for several years. Her favorite Bible scriptures were Psalm 23, Psalm 37, and Psalm 91. She brought fun, peace, and love wherever she went and was known for being kind, generous, funny, determined, and smart. A lifelong learner, Mary loved flowers, traveling, learning new things, and helping others. She carried a warmth and kindness that made her a truly remarkable and amazing mother, aunt, sister, and friend.
Mary was educated in the Orangeburg Public Schools and was a member of Wilkinson High School’s Class of 1969. She took sewing classes and earned her cosmetology license at Cope Vocational School. She was employed for 29 years at Ambler Industries in Orangeburg and also took pride in being an Avon representative for many years. She later worked as a private home health sitter and completed coursework at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in multi-skilled healthcare and patient care skills. She went on to work for over 20 years with the Orangeburg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board.
Mary was preceded in death by her siblings: Edward “Rob” Mack, Ernestine “Stine” Mack, Julia “Mae” Mack, Emma Louise Mack, Isaiah “Boo” Mack, Pansy Ann Mack, Sadie Mae Mack, Nathaniel Mack, Wilhemenia Mack, and Eartha Mack.
Left to cherish her many loving memories are her devoted daughter and only child, Shalanda Mack of Orangeburg, South Carolina; and her grandniece, Savannah Mack of Columbia, South Carolina, whom she helped to rear in her home. She is also survived by her two brothers, Deacon Herbert (Virginia) Mack and Johnnie (Loretta) Mack, both of Orangeburg; one aunt, Ruth Brown of Orangeburg; and a host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins, former coworkers, and friends.
