Mary Alice Richards, 73, was born on December 6, 1950, in Hampton, South Carolina to the late William Brantley and Joe Lee Williams. She passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 peacefully at Trident Medical Center in N. Charleston, South Carolina.
A woman of deep faith and compassion, Mary Alice always put others before herself. Her kindness, wisdom, and warm heart left an enduring impact on everyone she met. She was known for her generosity of spirit, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.
Above all, Mary Alice’s greatest joy was being a devoted mother. Her love, strength, and unwavering dedication to her children and family were unmatched. She nurtured her family with grace, offering her unwavering support and guidance through every season of life.
Her love for her family was constant and her memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who were blessed to know her. Mary Alice’s spirit of love, compassion, and strength will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by Joe Johnson, a first cousin who was like a brother.
Mary Alice is survived by her children, Leslie Brown (Algenard), Shirley Siders (Winston), Trena Smith (Keith), Cindy Bowman (Sylvester), Tosha Ellis, Lisa Brown (Reeon), Defforest Richards, Randell Richards, LaToya Richards, Charkis Richards, and bonus son Alexander Shaw; twenty-one grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters and a host of extended family and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and devotion will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace, knowing she left this world a better place through the love she gave and the lives she shaped.
