Mrs. Gracie Keitt Thomas Obituary

Gracie Lee Keitt Thomas entered this earthly life on February 24, 1941, to Hattie Mae and Ernest Sidney Keitt. God’s Heavenly Angels came and took her home on April 22, 2024, after a brief illness, so she could join her family members in Heaven.

She was the second child of seven children. She graduated from St. John High School in Cameron, South Carolina. Gracie was a member of the school’s Glee Club and was an avid cheerleader for the school’s basketball teams.

Gracie joined Bull Swamp Baptist Church at an early age. She graciously served as an Usher for a multitude of years. She enjoyed greeting and serving people in any capacity needed. Gracie loved fund raising and was excellent at it, for many endeavors the church undertook. She believed in making things better for people. Gracie did not mind getting her hands dirty including making graves beautiful by decorating them with colorful flowers. This lady loved hundreds of different kinds of flowers. She had them everywhere in her yard and house.  She would say, “Give Me My Flowers While I’m Still Alive.”

Gracie met Theodore Thomas Sr. and they were united in Holy Matrimony. From this union, they were blessed with three children, Theodore Jr., Catrena, and Willie. Even though, Theodore, Sr. departed his life early, Mrs. Gracie was a very strong woman who spent time with her children, her mother, her grands, great-grandchildren and her siblings showing them pure love.

Mrs. Gracie Thomas worked as a Domestic Engineer for many years. She was also employed at a floral shop and for years she did home health care for the elderly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Sr.; a daughter; a son; a grandson and a great-grandchild; three siblings; her parents and Carl, a very special friend; special ones that she loved as a daughter, Dorothy (J.W.) Walters of Sumter, South Carolina, and as a son, Roger Terry of Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Mrs. Gracie leaves to cherish her memories; a son, Rev.TheodoreThomas, Jr. (Valveta) of Columbia, South Carolina; grandsons, Shawn Guinyard of New Jersey and Alfonza (Etoria) Williams of Orangeburg, South Carolina; granddaughters, Teneka (Bobby) Ervin of Rockhill, South Carolina, and Ashley Williams, of Columbia, South Carolina; four great-grandchildren of Columbia, South Carolina; five great-grandchildren of Orangeburg, South Carolina; a brother, Ernest Keitt of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Daisy Holmes, of Orangeburg, South Carolina and Alberthia (Leon) of Mount Vernon, New York; her two very special people, Valveta Thomas and Nicole Mack and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
