Ms. Frances Drain Jenkins, was born January 11, 1927 in Smoaks, South Carolina. She was a beloved daughter of the late Allen Drain and the late Hattie R. (Heddie) Simmons Drain. On Friday, April 14, 2023, she heard the Master's call and transitioned from her earthly home to God’s Promise Land at the Colleton Medical Center, in Walterboro, South Carolina.
She was educated in the public schools of Colleton County. While in her youth, she joined Mt. Olive AME Church, in Smoaks, South Carolina. After marriage, she became a member of the Lovely Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful and devoted member until her health declined. She sang with the Lovely Hill Choir No. 2 and was one of the lead singers. "Oh Master Did You Call Me."
She was very jovial and loved sharing stories of old, in her days, as a young girl. She enjoyed singing, fishing, every day when possible, and sharing time with family. She was a housewife and worked on the farm alongside her husband and children.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Harvey Jenkins, Sr. and to this union six children were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Jenkins, Sr.; a son, Johnnie Lee Jenkins; two daughters, Lula Mae and Ruthie "Toot" and her siblings.
She leaves to cherish her many memories, her loving daughters, Ms. Mary Wilson, of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Ms. Sarah Clayton, of Walterboro, South Carolina; a devoted and nurturing son, Mr. Harvey (Carrie) Jenkins, Jr., who lived next door, of Smoaks, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, Mrs. Cynthia (Henry) Sanders, Mrs. Dee (Perish) Wrice, Mrs. Belinda (Richard) Howard, Ms. Delmetrice Wilson, Mr. James (Venus) Clayton, Mr. Allen (Laquinta) Wilson, Mr. Christopher Jenkins, Mr. Vinson Clayton, and Mr. Antonio (Peggie) Jenkins; thirty nine great-grands; Goddaughters, Ms. Geneva Murray, Ms. Georgia Jenkins, Ms. Brenda Jenkins, Mrs. Margaree Richardson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
