Pastor Shirley Ferguson Obituary

Pastor  Shirley Ann Doctor Ferguson was born on August 20, 1949, in Colleton County. She was the daughter of Mrs. Lillie R. Doctor Gant and the late Mr. Porter Taylor. She entered into eternal rest on February 19, 2020 in Colleton County.  Home-Going Celebration will be held Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Walterboro Christian Center, 320 Roberson Blvd, Walterboro, South Carolina at 11:00 a.m., Jadon Buckner, Pastor, Reverend Dr. Ephriam D. Stephens, Eulogist.  Interment, Cypress Creek Christian Church Cemetery.  A public viewing will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Stephens-Maree-Tracy Funeral Home Chapel of Serenity from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. 

She received her early education in the public schools of Colleton County.  She graduated from Colleton High School in 1967. She later continued her education and became a Certified Nursing Assistant.

 She was employed with J.P. Stevens, Winyah Healthcare, Colleton County schools, and Pruitt Healthcare. After retirement, she became a caregiver for her mother, stepfather, and her aunt Jean. She worked hard to provide for her family. 

At an early age, She became a member of Cypress Creek Christian Church, where she served as choir director. She then became a member of Summerville Miracle Revival Center with the determination to work as a servant of the Kingdom of God. She rejoined Cypress Creek Christian Church and was ordained as a Minister in 2003. She was the Assistant Pastor, President of the missionary board, and the choir director. In 2013 she became pastor of Macedonia Christian Church in Ehrhardt, South Carolina, and ministered faithfully until 2018.

 On October 21, 2001, she was united in holy matrimony to Sherman Daniel Ferguson. She was joyful, pleasant, and had a beautiful spirit. She loved God and always strived to be on time for church. She was blessed with a beautiful voice, and she loved to sing

Pastor Shirley A. Ferguson leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving husband Sherman Ferguson, of the home; her son Clyde Lewis Williams, III of Walterboro, South Carolina; her Mother Lillie R. Gant (Isaiah); her grandchildren, Clyde “lil man” Williams, IV, Kordai Spell, Jakri, Jakel, Millie, JaQuez, Eva, Unique, Kai’Son; Four sisters, Shirley Curry (Donald), Patricia T. Hughes (Leon), Claudia Walker, Vivian Mitchell; three brothers, Micheal, Daniel, and David Taylor; seven aunts; five uncles; Mother-n-Law, Viola Ferguson; five sisters-in-law, Pastor  Carolyn (Donnell) Thompson, Lillie (Earnest) Dent, Silvia (Franklin) Allen, Doris (Elvin) Edwards, Cora (Dennis) Thompson; two brothers-in-law, Ray (Christina) Ferguson, Marvin (Deloris) Ferguson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
