Paul Emmanuel Salley affectionately known a “Manuel” was born on September 10, 1958, to the late Robert and Lunetha Hodges Hodges-Salley, Sr. Of Colleton County, South Carolina. Manuel was the youngest of five siblings born to this union. He entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 11, 2021, at his residence.
He was educated in the Colleton County Public School System. He had a true talent for drawing, writing poetry and loved to dance. He loved his family and friends and was always doing whatever to lend a helping hand keeping them with smiles and laughter. He had a great love for his nieces and nephews. His siblings would call him “A big kid, with a big heart.”
Manuel relocated to New York City around 1979 where he was employed with multiple companies working Construction and Security Detail. While in New York, he met and courted Neena Coleman for several years before joining together in Holy Matrimony on October 31, 1987. This union concluded when he returned to South Carolina in 1989.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Mae Hodges and Dicia Ola Boatwright; two brothers, Robert Salley, Jr. And Elton “Chief” Salley.
He leaves to forever cherish his loving memories, one sister-in-law, Herlene Salley of Walterboro, South Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Herbert Hodges of Walterboro, South Carolina and Bobby Boatwright of Rego Park, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
