Mrs. Pernell Harrison Risher was born on January 29, 1935 to the late Reverend O'Donnell and Ester Harrison in Colleton County, but raised by her grandmother, Ms. Marilla Owens. She entered into eternal rest on March 30, 2020 in Snellville, Georgia. Graveside Service will be held Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Lovely Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Floyd W. White, Eulogist and Pastor. There will be NO PUBLIC VIEWING.
She was educated in the Colleton County School System. At an early age she accepted Christ into her life and joined the Lovely Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Senior Usher Board.
On April 12, 1952, she married the late James Risher. To this union three children were born.
Pernell was a loving wife and mother. She loved raising and spoiling her grands. She enjoyed cooking and sharing food with everyone that came by her home. She was always a joy to be around. She would always light up a room with her sense of humor. Her saying was "You better laugh now because one day you will sure enough cry." Her family gave her the nickname "Cookie Monster." She loved cookies and would hide them in the oddest spots throughout the kitchen. Pernell loved to watch basketball games, planting her flowers, sewing and loving on her family and friends. After becoming ill, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia with her daughter, Estelle.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Jimmie and Lloyd Risher; her four siblings, Jackie Harrison, Lucretia Rogers, Brenda H. Hilliard, and Naomi C. Stamps.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, her daughter, Estelle Risher Obialo (Harrie) of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Janee Risher, Tonya Washington (Lamont) both of Smoaks, South Carolina, James Risher Jr. (Michelle) of Newberry, South Carolina, Chinonye Obialo of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Aaron Harrison (Shalette) of Brooklyn, New York; a sister, Robin Mack of Carmichael, California; a sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Risher of Smoaks, South Carolina, a brother-in-law, John Hilliard of Awendaw, South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Viola Risher of Smoaks, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and great close friends.
